One of our most popular options for straightening teeth is ceramic braces. That’s because they are almost invisible due to the material they’re made of. These clear braces are a discreet, modern way to straighten your teeth.

In addition, our patients in Parker and Castle Rock, CO also often find clear braces to be more comfortable than metal braces.

How Do Ceramic Braces Work?

Ceramic braces work upon the same basic principles as traditional metal braces; they are designed to gently and gradually adjust the positions of your teeth to give you a straighter, more beautiful smile. And because they are nearly invisible, they allow you to maintain your normal appearance while undergoing orthodontic treatment—making them exceptionally popular with our adult and adolescent patients alike!

Do Ceramic Braces Take Longer?

While the average length of treatment can be slightly longer than traditional braces, we’re only talking about a difference of about six months.

The only reason ceramic braces might take longer than metal braces is because the ceramic part isn’t as durable as metal, meaning the brackets are replaced more frequently. Because ceramic braces require additional visits and adjustments, this slows down the overall process.

Do Ceramic Braces Turn Yellow?

Technically, no. The ceramic braces themselves are stain-resistant and will not turn yellow. However, the elastic bands that attach the wires to the ceramic braces can become discolored if you eat certain foods.

While the bands can turn yellow from certain foods, they’ll be replaced each time you visit our office for an adjustment. There’s no need to worry too much about discoloration with ceramic braces!

Are Ceramic Braces More Expensive Than Metal Braces?

Yes, one of the downsides to ceramic braces is that they are more expensive than metal braces. If you’re looking for a discreet option to straighten your teeth, ceramic braces or clear aligners will be your main options.
