FOODS TO AVOID

The last thing you want after weeks of orthodontic procedures is to prolong the treatment time by damaging your appliances. By providing education on how to maintain your orthodontic appliances, Dr. Ted Struhs hopes to prevent future problems that might inhibit your straight smile. Through years of experience, our orthodontist has determined that some of the most harmful food to braces are among the list of following foods:

  • Chewy foods such as bagels, licorice or hard rolls.
  • Crunchy foods like popcorn and nuts and biting down on ice.
  • Sticky foods such as caramels, gum or dots.
  • Food you must bite into such as corn on the cob, apples, carrots or tough meats.

When you eat foods like the ones listed above, it can put undue stress on your appliances and may even lead to some damage. Should you experience any damage to your orthodontic appliance as a result of eating the food mentioned above, please contact our office as soon as possible. If you have other questions regarding what foods are safe or unsafe for your orthodontic appliances in Parker, Colorado, please contact 20 Mile Orthodontics P.C.
