BRANDON SCHEER, DDS, MSD
Dr. Brandon Scheer was born in Wichita, Kansas, where he comes from a long family tradition of practicing dentistry. His great-grandfather, Dr. George W. Scheer, moved to Wichita in 1918 and started a dental practice. That practice was then passed down to his son, Dr. Harold Scheer, who practiced dentistry there until he retired and passed the practice on to his son, Dr. Brick Scheer. Dr. Brick Scheer is Dr. Brandon Scheer’s father and still practices dentistry in Wichita today.
After completing his undergraduate education at Wichita State University, Dr. Brandon Scheer decided to continue the family legacy and moved to Indiana to study dentistry at Indiana University School of Dentistry. While there, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree, graduated with highest honors, was inducted by vote of faculty into membership of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society and was recognized with an award for Excellence in Oral Biology.
During dental school, Dr. Scheer went to Kenya on a cooperative mission with Kenyan dental students at Moi University to provide dental care for the homeless children in the city of Eldoret. The following year, he went to Ecuador with a dental missions group traveling from village to village to provide dental care. Those experiences helped strengthen an already strong spirit of service.
Following dental school, Dr. Scheer completed an orthodontic residency program at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine and earned a Master of Science in Dentistry (MSD) and a Certificate in Orthodontics.
When he isn’t practicing orthodontics, you can usually find him wakeboarding during the summer and snowboarding during the winter. He also enjoys playing classical guitar and reading.
TED STRUHS, D.D.S. M.S.
Dr. Ted Struhs is happy to say he grew up here in the South Denver area. After high school, he completed his biology degree at Colorado State University, while also earning a minor in anatomy and neurobiology. His studies took him to Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, to study dentistry. At dental school, he received numerous academic awards, earned research honors, and was given top leadership roles. He graduated summa cum laude, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2003. This academic record gave him the chance to stay at Virginia Commonwealth University, known as one of the top academic and clinical orthodontic residencies. In 2005, he received his certificate as a specialist if orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics and a master’s degree in oral biology.
Dr. Struhs returned to Colorado following his studies and sees patients in the same communities as the ones he grew up in — although you can imagine it’s a bit different than it was 35 years ago. He is proud to treat his patients with the most comfortable and efficient treatment techniques available. Dr. Struhs continues to be part of numerous dental study clubs, involves himself with community and school educational programs, and provides his office with the leading benefits of today’s evolving orthodontic profession.
As a true Colorado native, Dr. Struhs still spends much of his time skiing in the winter and enjoying the beautiful summers here in Colorado. His wife, Julie, also grew up here, and they are happy to be able to raise their three kids in their own beautiful home town.
